How to make one small change in your daily routine every week?
1.
Week
1: Start going to bed
in time (of course you will wake up early next day)
2.
Week
2: Have lime water
with honey (first thing in the morning)
3.
Week
3: Drink more water
4.
Week
4: Start eating
healthier breakfast
5.
Week
5: Start cutting down
portions for lunch
6.
Week
6: Start having light
dinner (minimum two hours before you
sleep)
7.
Week
7: Start exercising.
Now, here are some tips for each week in detail.
Week 1: Start going to bed in time
Trick is to set an alarm for going to
bed and stick to it. For example if you want to sleep by 10.30 in the night,
set an alarm of 10.00 pm so that you get enough time to wind up. As soon as
your alarm rings, have a cup of warm turmeric milk. Also keep away all gadgets
like your mobile phone, laptop etc half an hour before bedtime.
Week 2: Have lime water with honey
Start your day with one glass of warm
water with juice of half a lemon and one teaspoon of honey. You can extract
juice of lemon previous day and keep in your fridge or else you can just cut a
lemon into half and keep in fridge so that it is easier for you to extract the
juice. Also have one glass of plain warm water after this.
Week 3: Drink more water
You already know you should drink more
water but how to increase your water intake? There are many mobile apps to help
you drink more water. If you don’t want to use any app, just add 2 hourly
reminders in your mobile phone. As soon as the reminder rings, have one glass
of water.
Week 4: Start eating healthier breakfast
It is a known fact that breakfast is
an important meal of the day. Try to add more protein in your breakfast.
Sprouts, Paneer, Lentils are some of the good vegetarian options to add to your
breakfast.
Week 5: Cutting down portions for lunch
Let’s take a simple example. If you
were having two rotis for lunch, start having only one and add a bowl of
healthy salad to your plate. You can use cucumber, tomatoes, onion, carrot, radish,
coriander for making salad.
Week 6: Start having light dinner (minimum two
hours before you sleep)
Now, if you have set your sleeping
time to 10.30 from Week 1, have a light dinner around 8 pm and always try to finish
your dinner before 8.30. You can have a filling soup /salad/ sprouts as dinner.
Week 7: Start exercising.
Soon
after you have a glass of lime juice and honey/plain warm water, go for a walk
nearby, say in the park for half an hour. You can have your usual tea/coffee
after that. Additionally, you can go for a walk in the evening for another half
an hour.
